It took me a day or so to understand what it was about Tbilisi that was different from the other former soviet cities I’ve been to, and then it hit me:

Tbilisi has a sense of humor. I don’t mean to dis Kiev or Moscow (well, maybe Moscow a little bit) but Tbilisi has this soul that is just…joyous.

There is art everywhere, people have a great sense of style and don’t seem like they’re trying to prove anything.  And the city is just beautiful….and ancient.

This church is tucked away on a side street, and if you were just passing by you’d have no idea that its the oldest church in the city.

There is a special kind of house, that is more Asian then European, it’s like a two story apartment with an enclosed yard.

and it seems every few feet there’s something beautiful or interesting
